Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 1 January 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Wethu Micro Lenders website and summarise the basis on which we offer micro loans. They do not constitute a credit agreement, and nothing on this website is a binding offer of credit. Any loan that is approved will be governed by a separate written credit agreement signed by you and by us.
1. About Us
Wethu Micro Lenders is a registered credit provider in the Republic of South Africa, registration number NCRCP22737, with its offices at 19 Temba Street, Atteridgeville 0125. We offer short-term micro loans to South African consumers.
2. Use of This Website
This website is an advertisement and enquiry channel. It provides general information about our loan products and a way to start a conversation with us on WhatsApp. You agree to use the website only for lawful purposes and not to attempt to interfere with its security, availability or integrity.
3. No Offer, No Guarantee of Approval
Nothing on this website constitutes an offer of credit, an approval, or a promise of credit. Submitting an enquiry does not create a credit agreement and does not guarantee that a loan will be approved. All applications are subject to our assessment and approval procedures, including affordability assessment and credit-profile review as required by the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (the “NCA”).
4. Enquiries and WhatsApp Handoff
When you use the enquiry form on the Apply page, the details you enter (name, mobile number, requested amount) are held briefly in your browser’s memory solely to construct a WhatsApp message. Nothing is transmitted to us until you press “Continue on WhatsApp” and choose to send the message. This website does not collect, store or process ID numbers, bank statements, payslips or any other sensitive documents. Once you continue on WhatsApp, that conversation is governed by WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
5. Loan Amounts
We offer loans from R500 - R3,000. The amount approved depends on your affordability assessment and credit profile. We do not guarantee approval, and we may decline an application.
6. Interest, Fees and Illustrations
The applicable interest rate, fees and charges are fixed and disclosed in the credit agreement before it is concluded. No fee or charge will be imposed unless permitted by applicable law. Any figures shown in the loan calculators on this website are illustrative only and are not a binding quotation.
7. What Your Credit Agreement Will Contain
The summary below is provided for information only. It is not the credit agreement, it does not replace the credit agreement, and it does not create any contractual obligation. The actual figures for your loan will be set out in the credit agreement you sign.
- The borrower acknowledges receipt of the principal amount and agrees to repay the agreed total within the agreed term.
- Repayment is collected via DebiCheck from the nominated bank account, or by another lawful method agreed in writing.
- If a debit order fails, the borrower must immediately arrange an alternative payment.
- Providing false information, or failing to pay, constitutes default.
- Where permitted by law, the borrower is liable for lawful collection, tracing and legal costs.
- Any security pledged is listed in the credit agreement. The borrower warrants ownership of the pledged item and agrees not to sell or dispose of it before settlement.
- The lender may enforce its lawful rights regarding the pledged security if the borrower defaults.
- The borrower may settle the loan early, subject to applicable law.
- The borrower consents to communication by phone, SMS, WhatsApp and email regarding the loan.
- The borrower consents to the processing of personal information for administering the loan.
- The agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
- The signed credit agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties in respect of that loan.
8. Responsible Lending
We conduct the assessments and provide the disclosures required by the NCA and other applicable legislation. We encourage you to borrow only what you can afford to repay and to contact us promptly if your circumstances change.
9. Personal Information and POPIA
Personal information is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”). Our POPIA Disclosure Notice is available here. This website does not collect or store loan applications, identity documents or other sensitive records.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, layout, graphics and the Wethu Micro Lenders name and logo — is owned by or licensed to Wethu Micro Lenders and may not be copied, reproduced or redistributed without our prior written permission, except as permitted by law.
11. Availability and Changes
We may update, suspend or withdraw any part of this website at any time without notice. We may amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Material changes will be communicated where required by law. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Limitation of Liability
This website is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While we take reasonable care to keep information accurate and the site secure, we do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wethu Micro Lenders is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the NCA, the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Electronic Communications (ECTA)
In line with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (“ECTA”), you agree that we may communicate with you electronically, including by email, SMS and WhatsApp, in respect of your enquiry and any resulting account. You may request a copy of any record in terms of section 44 of ECTA.
